Trolltunga, Preikestolen and Kjerag

Visit some of Norways most spectacular mountains and experience the best of Fjord Norway by foot.

Trolltunga Experience the most spectacular rock formation in Fjord Norway! Trolltunga (The Trolls Tongue) is situated 700 metres above Ringedalsvatnet lake with a breathtaking view!
The hike is 20 km and approx. 8-10 hours.

Preikestolen is a mountain formed like a huge pulpit towering over the Lysefjord. The iconic Pulpit Rock rises 600 metres above the Lysefjord. Take the hike and enjoy the spectacular views.
The hike is 8 km. and approx 2-3 hours.

Kjerag This majestic geographical legacy rises 1000 m above the Lysefjorden, and is a real natural beauty. Admire an astonishing view over the fjord or take a walk to the top of Kjeragbolten for an adrenaline boost. 

Three spectacular hikes in three days for the experienced hiker.

We will make it easy for you. Choose where you wish to depart from and receive a schedule where you may book the various elements available. For your flexibility, you may choose your own date to travel.

HIKING TROLLTUNGA, PREIKESTOLEN AND KJERAG FROM BERGEN

If you are travelling from other cities and arrive Bergen by plane, we recommend Flybussen from Flesland to Bergen center. The cheapest tickets for Flybussen are available online. We recommend the Grand Hotel Terminus, a charming hotel in a central location. You may choose how many nights you wish to stay in Bergen.

The bus travel from Bergen to Odda may be by regular buss - in which case timetables and pricing are available at Skyss. If you wish to experience the beautiful fjords you may travel by regular bus from Bergen to Norheimsund and then by ferry from Norheimsund to Lofthus. Tickets available at Norled.

The traditional Hotel Ullensvang resides in Lofthus, where you may enjoy two nights with all the facilities and service you want. 

1. hiking day - Trolltunga:

Travel to Tyssedal by regular bus and from there hike towards Trolltunga. The route is clearly marked. The trip is considered difficult with 11 km each way - approx 8-10 hours roundtrip.

2. hiking day - Preikestolen:

Hop on the Pulpit Rock-bus and arrive at the Pulpit Rock parking around 12:15. From here, follow a marked path to the Pulpit Rock and back. The terrain is hilly, with a difference in altitude of 350 metres. There are swimming conditions and picnic areas along the trail. The hike itself is around 6 km - approx. 4 hours roundtrip. Book the date of your choosing for the bus package Odda-the Pulpit Rock and the Pulpit Rock - Tau - Stavanger (includes ferry). Remember to book a hotel in Stavanger for two nights, - we can recommend Scandic hotels.

3. hiking day - Kjerag:
Kjeragsbolten. On a daytrip from Stavanger to Øygardstøl. From here, hike to Kjerag and snap all those mandatory photos whilst standing at the spectacular Kjeragsbolten enjoying a humbling view of Lysefjorden. Book as you see fit here.

The next day you may hop on the Kystbussen and enjoy a relaxing and well-earned ride back to Bergen.

TROLLTUNGA, PREIKESTOLEN AND KJERAG FROM STAVANGER

See suggested route and links to where you can book the different elements of you journey. Please allow two nights in Stavanger and two nights in Hardangerfjord to do the three hikes.

Starting Stavanger

Day 1. hike to Kjerag:
From Stavanger you book the day trip to by bus to Øygardstøl. From here you can hike to Kjerag to take the spectacular photos while standing on the Kjerag bolt. Book the trip to Kjerag on the date of your choice here. Spend a second night in Stavanger hotel.

Day 2. hike to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock):
Check-out from Stavanger hotel. Go by the Tau ferry from Stavanger to Tau and comtinue with the bus to Preikestolen parking for a hike to Preikestolen. At 14:45 the bus leaves from Preikestolen parking to Hardangerfjord and the villages Odda, Lofthus and Kinsarvik. Book your ticket for the bus from Preikestolen to Hardanger here.
There are several opportunities for accommodation in Hardanger, book for two nights.

Day 3. hike Trolltunga: 
Go by local shuttle transport to Skjeggedal to start your hike to Trolltunga. 

Day 4. Back to Stavanger
Book the bus back to Stavanger.
